The seventh historic plaque in the 2015-2016 series
of ten plaques dedicated to downtown buildings will be mounted on Thursday,
April 7, 2016 at 5 p.m., at Ginger & Company, located at 45 Doyle St.
The building that Ginger & Company is located in
originally housed a The Clipper Barber Shop.
Owned by Rhuel Hallford, The Clipper Barber Shop was open in this
location for 42 years. After the barber
shop closed, the building was home to a technology store, a loan office, and a
clothing store before becoming Ginger & Company, the salon that is housed
in the building today. The Vander Woude
family bought the building in 2004.
The historic plaque program highlights ten historic
buildings in Toccoa, and the remaining plaques are set to follow each month. Once
all plaques have been installed, a walking tour podcast will accompany them to
further bring historical awareness to downtown Toccoa.
Everyone is invited to attend this event! The Main
Street Office is happy to answer any questions. Please contact Weslie Clark at
