During
the annual Awards Ceremony of the Georgia Downtown Conference, All Things
Currahee and the Toccoa Downtown Development Authority were selected as the Downtown
Excellence-Small Business of the Year for their dedication and hard work in
opening a successful downtown business that showcased local artists. The ceremony was held last Wednesday night, March
9th, at the Historic Morton Theatre in Athens.
As the premier event on downtown development and historic
preservation in the state, the Georgia Downtown Conference promotes downtown
and economic development through public awareness, governmental relations and
education.
With
over 50 applications received, competition for this year’s awards was fierce
but a few outstanding projects stood out among the nominations. The partnership of the Toccoa Downtown
Development Authority and the Phillips’ to accomplish the dream of a retail
business for local artisans was selected as the top entry in this category.
