Chi-Town Transit Authority to Perform at the Ritz

Press Release

Release: Immediate

Date: December 28, 2020

RE: The Historic Ritz Theatre Welcomes Chi-Town Transit Authority

Toccoa, GA – December 28, 2020 – “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?” It’s time to head to the Historic Ritz Theatre on Saturday, January 23rd at 7:00pm for another Night at the Ritz featuring  Chi-Town Transit Authority, an Atlanta-based seven-piece band that exclusively plays the timeless music of Chicago.

Chi-Town prides themselves in delivering live, authentic versions of Chicago’s big hits, power ballads, and the deeper cuts not frequently heard. Chi-Town is configured to play the music how you would expect to hear it – each instrumentalist performs the role of the original band members and songs are played in their original keys. They have been wowing audiences with renditions from the famed “rock band with horns.

Each performance is a great time with lively crowd participation – singing, dancing, and rocking. Audiences are thrilled with their accurate and soulful renditions – soaring vocals, rocking guitars, and solid brassy horns – the cornerstones of the Chicago sound. They pay homage to Chicago’s tremendous music catalog that spans over decades.

The band name is inspired by the name of Chicago’s debut album from 1969, “Chicago Transit Authority.” Chicago’s early years particularly offer up musical gems that Chi-Town Transit Authority highlight alongside their massive hits. Infusing their rock ‘n’ roll, jazz, bebop and classical sounds; the seven riders in the band try to stay as authentic as possible to the music bordering studious behavior.

Night at the Ritz, a regular event series at the Historic Ritz Theatre, is funded, in part, by generous  grants received from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Georgia Council for the Arts. Tickets for all shows may be purchased online at www.ritztheatretoccoa.com.  Adult tickets are $10, children under 12 and students with an ID are $5.  Doors open at 6:15.

For more information on any Night at the Ritz performance please contact Ritz Theatre General Manager Tami Mayhugh at tmayhugh@cityoftoccoa.com or via phone at 706.244.0039.

Festival of Trees Winner

TOCCOA, GA – December 9, 2019 – The thirteenth annual Festival of Trees was held on December 4 in downtown Toccoa. Eleven trees were on display in front of ten businesses. For $1, visitors were able to vote for their favorite tree.  Businesses and non-profit organizations decorated the trees, many with themes that reflected their organization.  Each group received the proceeds from their votes.  In addition to the money received from the vote, the tree with the most votes won a $500 grand prize.

The tree with the most votes was sponsored by the Open Arms Clinic and was set up on Tugalo Street in front of CK Morgan and Company.

“Congratulations to Open Arms Clinic for their beautiful tree which helped to raise much needed funds for their organization. All the trees were beautiful and each group worthy of the money that was raised,” said Sharon Crosby, City of Toccoa Special Events Coordinator. “We would like to thank Michele Whiten at CK Morgan and Company for allowing Open Arms Clinic to set up in front of her store. We would also like to thank each organization and business that put up a tree. Each one was beautiful and reflected the group they represented.”
