Date: October 7, 2019

RE: The Historic Ritz Theatre Welcomes The Headless Hessian of Sleepy Hollow:  Live from WVL Radio Theatre

Toccoa, GA  October 7, 2019 – Are you afraid of things that go bump in the night? Join us at the Historic Ritz Theatre on Thursday, October 24th at 7:00pm and find out with a live “radio” production of “The Headless Hessian of Sleepy Hollow and Other American Horror Stories.”

This 1940s “live broadcast” from the fictitious studio of WVL radio includes a creative retelling of the Lizzie Borden axe murders, Edgar Allan Poe’s  The Tell-Tale Heart, and a 1940’s re-imaging of Washington Irving’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.  The audience will not only get to experience the actors’ reactions but also learn how the actors create the sounds of wind howling, horses trotting, doors slamming, and the many noises that make the production come alive.

Four actors, live sound effects, and original music transport you back to 1946 when the imagination created horrors more vivid than any that might actually be lurking in your living room…or your radio station.

Night at the Ritz, a regular event series at the Historic Ritz Theatre, is funded in part by generous grants received from the Georgia Council for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Fox Institute, and local sponsor TruVista.  Tickets for all shows may be purchased online at www.ritztheatretoccoa.com, at the Toccoa Welcome Center, or at the box office night of show. Adult tickets are $10, children under 12 and students with an ID are $5.

For more information on the performance or Night at the Ritz, please contact Ritz Theatre General Manager Tami Mayhugh at tmayhugh@cityoftoccoa.com or via phone at 706.244.0039.
