TOCCOA, GA – ReelWorks Studios announces Toccoa-Stephens County as location of choice for the filming of THE MULLIGAN MOVIE.

“Toccoa-Stephens County has been selected as the location for THE MULLIGAN MOVIE production. We are proud to have been selected again by ReelWorks Studios, who most recently produced WHEN WE LAST SPOKE in Toccoa, as home-base for this project and look forward to our seventh movie to begin production” says Julie Paysen, president of our Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce and our Georgia Film Liaison.

THE MULLIGAN MOVIE is the long-awaited film based on the impactful and inspirational book, THE MULLIGAN, by the best selling author and business strategist Ken Blanchard and Former PGA Touring Pro Wally Armstrong. The story centers around a pristine public image, billion-dollar business executive, Paul McAllister, CEO of McAllister Inc. – an international e-commerce company based in Atlanta, Georgia. Though he has an outward appearance of success and confidence… behind the façade is a man in turmoil with his personal life and his moral compass. Paul finds himself now separated from his wife Rebecca, and estranged from his semi-pro motocross son, Jake. He has lost sight of what is important, and though he doesn’t know it yet…Paul is in great need of a mulligan. Through an encounter with “the old pro” after a major breakdown on the golf course…Paul is faced with the reality of a need for some major life changes that go far beyond his golf swing. If you ever wanted a “do-over”…then this inspiring story of forgiveness and second chances experienced by Paul McAllister is the shot of grace you might be looking for.

“THE MULLIGAN MOVIE” production team will also include a team of 60 students currently in the Film Program at Liberty University, who will be mentored throughout the filming process by professional crew members in various roles. Production was scheduled to begin exactly a year ago in Toccoa, but ReelWorks Studios was forced to postpone the project due to the national covid pandemic,” says Paysen.

The following is the Official Statement from Rick Eldridge – CEO/Producer, ReelWorks Studios.

“Because of the national emergency conditions related to the CoronaVirus we unfortunately had to suspend production of THE MULLIGAN last year. We are now very excited to be back in Toccoa and moving forward with the production of this film. Many of the people of this community have become good friends over the past several years of our work here.”

The newly anticipated schedule is as follows: Three weeks of final prep beginning March 9th with first day of principle photography April 6th.”

“With THE MULLIGAN MOVIE, our seventh movie production will soon be underway. We are proud of Toccoa-Stephens County and our growing emergence as a regional film production location.” Says Paysen.

Main Street Toccoa Receives Tourism Product Development Grant

TOCCOA, GA – March 3rd, 2021 – Explore Georgia, the Tourism Division within the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD), announced on March 2nd that it has awarded $5,000 in tourism product development grants to Main Street Toccoa for an Alleyway Restoration Project, to be completed by July 2021.

The Alleyway Restoration Project will include restoration work in accordance with historic preservation standards to two alleyways in Downtown Toccoa. The alleyways will include bistro lighting added to allow these locations to contribute to the overall downtown sense-of-place.

“Georgia is an incredibly beautiful state. From the mountains to the coast, and from small towns to metropolitan cities, Georgia has destinations and experiences to satisfy the needs of every traveler...” said Georgia Department of Economic Development Commissioner Pat Wilson. “We’re grateful for the opportunity to provide our partners with this additional funding.”

Echoing these thoughts, Toccoa Mayor Evan Hellenga stated, “Our Downtown District is the heart and soul of our community. We seek out every opportunity we can to continually improve beautification efforts downtown. We know that this funding will help to tie these alleyways to our annual events and continue to encourage consumer spending in our local businesses.”
