Celebrating The City of Toccoa

The City of Toccoa will host a special week of events to celebrate Georgia Cities Week sponsored by the Georgia Municipal Association. This year’s theme is “Go To Town.” Georgia Cities Week is an opportunity to showcase and celebrate cities and the services they provide.

The special events will begin on Monday, April 18 with a health walk on the new sidewalk on Big A Road. The walk will begin at 4:00 p.m. and start at the old Fred’s parking lot and continue to Jerry White’s Pharmacy. Walkers can then walk back to their cars.

There will be a Touch a Truck event on Tuesday, April 19 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Police cars, fire trucks, and other city vehicles will be available for children to look at “up close”. The vehicles will be in the First Citizens Bank parking lot across from the Schaefer Center. There will be giveaways for the children.

Customer Appreciation Day will be held on Friday, April 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon in the lobby of City Hall.  The community is invited to come.

For those interested in word searches, there is a “Searching for Toccoa” word search online at www.cityoftoccoa.com and www.mainstreettoccoa.com . Those who complete it correctly may bring it in to city hall on Friday, April 22 and receive a prize.

For more information about any of the events, please call Sharon Crosby at 706-282-3309.
