Beginning July 27 and going
to July 31, Main Street Toccoa in cooperation with the Savannah River
Production, will sponsor a children’s Drama Camp at the historic Schaefer
Center in downtown Toccoa.
The class will be offered
from 9:00 am – 12:00 noon for children going into first grade (and can read) through
5th grade. The registration fee is $50 per child with a $10 discount per
additional sibling.
Throughout the week, the
children will learn a variety of skills such as breathing exercises, blocking,
and memorization. They will be working on a production which they will perform on Friday, July 31,
at 7:00 p.m. at the Schaefer Center. This year’s production is entitled, “Treasure
Island.” The community is invited to attend the final production on July 31.
The children will be working
on a production of “Treasure Island” a musical adaptation of Robert Louis
Stevenson’s classic book. The story is about Jim Hawkins who longs for
adventure and finds it in this tale of pirates, pigaloos and buried treasure.
This musical features an expanded script and eight original songs - ideal for
performers who are ready to try a full-length musical production. The score
includes the accompanied songs, full script and staging guide. Step back in
time and share an adventure with Jim, Bill Bones, Long John Silver and a host
of interesting characters! 55 minutes.
