TOCCOA, GA, August 25, 2016 – Main Street Toccoa is once again pleased to remind the citizenry of Toccoa of “Puttin’ on the Ritz,” what is sure to be an historic event in the history of the city. This Thursday, August 25^th, 2016, a celebration will commence at the Schaefer Center which will culminate in the official lighting up of the historic Ritz Theatre marquee. Festivities will begin at 5:30 P.M. and include a food and drink reception with live music. At 6:00 P.M., a short program will take place featuring local and state dignitaries and other important persons. Following the program, the Ritz marquee will officially be lit. At 6:30 P.M., Main Street Toccoa will recreate an iconic picture of the historic Ritz Theatre to be memorialized in the building. Following “Puttin’ on the Ritz,” the theatre will host a free showing of Disney-Pixar’s Inside Out, co-sponsored by Main Street Toccoa and the Toccoa-Stephens County Public Library. The public is invited to attend all aspects of “Puttin’ on the Ritz.”

 The construction of the marquee is due partly to a grant from the Fox Theatre Institute in Atlanta. The installation of this historically-inspired marquee will help serve to make the Ritz Theatre a pillar of Downtown Toccoa for the foreseeable future.
