TASTE OF TOCCOA ON SATURDAY

“A Taste of Toccoa” will be held in downtown May 2, from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm. It is the 25th year for this family friendly event which has become a tradition for many.
From 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. area restaurants and caterers will be serving sample-sized portions of their most popular dishes or introducing new menu items. There will be 18 restaurants participating this year. They are: Shirley’s Sole Food, X Factor Grill, Domino’s Pizza, Just Right Catering, Applebee’s, Mike’s Original Subs, McDonald’s, Ferb’s, Victoria’s Sweet Treats, Dairy Queen, Dazzling Sweet Treats, Sweetly Southern, Willy’s Wings, Meat’n the Middle, Threads, Bobbers and Burgers at the Rebel,and Bojangles. The Farmer’s Market will also be there to sell fresh produce.

New to Taste this year will be the 4th Annual City of Toccoa Car Show and Cruise Relay for Life Benefit. Located on Doyle Street from Sage Street to Alexander Street, the show will start at 9:00 am and run through 2:00 pm. Registration is from 9:00 am through 11:00 am with judging beginning at 11:00 am. Twenty-seven specialty plaques will be awarded. Awards will be given out at 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm. Entry fee is $20 per car. For more information, call Dale Simpson at 706-599-2313.

The Currahee Artist Guild will have their Spring Art and Crafts Show on Doyle Street in front of the Studio from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm. Local artist will show their work inside the Studio as well as outside in the street and in the breezeway. Awards will be given at the end of the show.

Entertainment will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the stage on Sage Street and will include the following:
11:00 am – 12:00 – Precious Minutes Martial Arts
12:00-1:00 pm – Rhythm Academy
1:00pm - 2:00pm – Ryan Stinson

Activities for the children will be at Pond Street and Doyle Street.

Eight awards are given to the participating restaurants in several different categories; Most Authentic Representation of Business, the Extra Mile Award, the Taste Award for Desserts, the Taste Award for a Menu Item, and the top three restaurants for the Most Tokens Collected. Again this year there will be the People’s Choice Award.  Festival attendees can vote for their favorite restaurant and for their favorite menu item. The voting will take place at the WNEG Radio tent.  Ballots will be available for everyone to vote.

Tokens can be pre-bought at the following businesses: 1st Franklin Financial, First Citizens Bank, CK Morgan, Troup’s, and the Toccoa Main Street office.

Doyle Street, Pond Street, and Sage Street will be closed from 12:00 midnight – 3:00 p.m. Parking will still be available in the parking lots on Tugalo Street and Foreacre Street.
