Our next (and fourth) summer movie is this Thursday night, June 26, at 7:00 p.m. in the Schaefer Center. This week we will be showing Iron Man 3. Check out our Facebook event for more information: https://www.facebook.com/events/886367078045871/.
I think our Summer Movies have been a real success. The first week we showed Frozen. We sold the show out! Everyone seemed to have a good time and really enjoy themselves, including the volunteers who were there. The second week we showed Man of Steel, the new Superman movie. We only had about 160 people come that week but we still consider that a success. The third week we showed was Monsters University. About 260 people came to see that one. Children and adults alike seemed to really enjoy the movie. We are so thankful to everyone who has come out to support us and we hope you will continue to come to the remainder of the movies.
I have been making popcorn every week to sell...because who doesn't want popcorn when they watch a movie. When we showed Frozen, people stood in line for almost an hour to get popcorn. WOW. I guess kids really want popcorn. By the third movie (Monsters University) we had bought a bigger popcorn machine and the popcorn line went a lot smoother...expect for all the rain we got. At Monsters University we were also able to use our new ticket window for the first time. This really helped keep the line moving. We could not have done these movies without our wonderful volunteers. They show up early with a smile on their face ready to help. They sell concessions, sell and collect tickets, and so much more! We hope they know how much we appreciate them.
I would say overall the Summer Movies at the Schaefer Center have been a success!
