RE: Open Mic Monday First Round Winner
The
Historic Ritz Theatre kicks off its Fourth Open Mic Monday Season
Toccoa,
GA, September 28, 2020 –Michael McCollough of Toccoa, rocked his way to a first
place finish for Season Four of Open Mic Monday on Monday, September 21st.
McCollough
wowed the judges by performing “Blue on Black” by Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band and
“Wanted Dead or Alive” by Bon Jovi, while playing acoustic guitar. Runner-up
Hannah Nail, a student at Toccoa Falls College performed acapella versions of
“Put a Little Love on Me” by Niall Horan and “Before You Go” by Lewis Capaldi.
The
three-judge panel consisted of Shantelle Grant from Toccoa-Stephens Library,
Phil Hobbs, WNEG radio, and Clay Young, Minister of Music First Baptist Church
of Toccoa.
The
next competition is set for Monday, October 19th with the category
of Singer/Songwriter. All competitors must perform original material. Each
month’s winner receives a $50 prize and a paid gig at the 2021 Ida Cox Summer
Music Series. Open Mic Monday is held every third Monday of the month through
December and is a free event. Interested
performers can sign up by email at ritztheatretoccoa@gmail.com or at the Historic Ritz Theatre the
evening of the show on a first-come, first-up basis until 6:30 pm.
